Last week, everyone in the ISM program gave their first research speeches. Oh, how time flies. With all my fellow ISM students studying different fields, I learned a lot. Even though this my second year in the program, there are many fields of studies in my class this year that weren't last year. For example, this year I have peers studying subjects such as Computer Science, Astronomy, Occupational Therapy, Event Planning, Medical Physics and Oncology. Having such a diverse array made each speech that much more interesting. I learned about how 3-D printing is the new revolutionary process for hip replacements, how gravitational waves have been discovered and about how medical physics is involved in psychiatric treatment. This was the first time I substantially learned about the interests of my classmates and it was eye opening. Though everyone's field had been briefly explained to me before, I now truly understand the appeal to each subject. Hopefully, I was able to convey the same interest and passion I saw in my own speech about Criminology.
