Over the last week, I have learnt how important having good interview questions is. These questions can make or break an interview. Here is what I've learnt.
In the short period of time we ISM students conduct Research Interviews, it is important to ask good questions that require detailed responses. One of the main things to remember to do is asking open ended questions so professionals can elaborate their answers. Valuable information can be lost with yes or no answer questions. The following are examples of how you can easily transform questions from basic to interview worthy.
What is your job? TO What is your official job title and job description?
What are the best things about the job? TO What are the most rewarding parts of the field?
How should I learn more about Criminology? TO Are there any specific books you recommend those interested in your Criminology read?
Why do you think you were accepted into ------ University? TO I noticed that you attended ------- University, what aspects of your high school career do you think contributed to your acceptance?
