Last Friday, my Health Science II class and I had our last day at the Medical Center of Plano. Although it won't be the last hospital we ever go to to, it was the hospital where many of us learned the basics that they don't teach you in class. Things like taking vitals with a machine, digitally sending those vitals, what needs to be put in charts, where to put leads on a person, how to send patient samples to the lab and more. I'd like to take the time to thank all the employees at the Medical Center of Plano for teaching us the essential skills we didn't have when we first arrived. Thank you for being patient with us and for giving us tasks to do! I'm certain that the next hospital we go to will be grateful to not have to teach a bunch of inexperienced students! I'm sad to know that I probably won't walk through the revolving doors of the ER lobby again, but I'm excited to learn more from a different hospital! In fact, tomorrow, I will be heading to a local firestation for ambulance and firetruck ridealongs! I'll make sure to post a summary of my first firestation visit tomorrow! Wish me luck!
