For the last month or so, I have been scheduling research interviews with various professionals in the field. While I am looking into Forensic Psychiatry more, I have been able to interview some fantastic Forensic Psychologists as well. I have learnt so many things from these interviews that I wouldn't have learnt otherwise through the internet. Not only have I learnt about the job, but also the experiences that come along with it as well.

I have interviewed a total of 3 people so far and I have a fourth one with a University professor tomorrow. It is actually suprising how many individuals will agree to interviews if you just reach out to them and ask. Before starting ISM I wouldn't have even thought that it would be a possibility to sit down across from a Forensic psychiatrist or psychologist and ask them about their field.

Obviously, the interactions these individuals have had with patients are quite fascinating. I have met with a forensic psychiatrist who actually met a lady with dissociative identity disorder more commonly know as multiple personality disorder which is probably one of the rarest mental illnesses to exist. Another interesting story I got to hear was about a famous murder trial that occured recently in my area where the forensic psychaitrist found the defendant insane.

Stories such as these wouldn't easily be found on the internet or in books. You have to go straight to the source, and hearing all the minute details that news channels, movies, and TV shows forfit makes the experiences even more interesting. Honestly, whatever field you plan on going into, I would advise you to actually meet profssionals in that field and ask questions! You learn so much more and you can be assured that what they are telling you is more accurate the what you'd find on the internet.
